The Use of Reiki in Healthcare
According to the 2007 National Health Interview Survey, which included a comprehensive survey of CAM use by Americans, more than 1.2 million adults had used an energy healing therapy, such as Reiki, in the previous year. The survey also found that approximately 161,000 children had used an energy healing therapy in the previous year.
Further research shows that Reiki is being used in over 800 hospitals across the United States alone. Studies from these hospitals report that Reiki improves patient sleep by 86 percent, reduces pain by 78 percent, reduces nausea by 80 percent, and reduces anxiety during pregnancy by 94 percent. In addition, nurses report that Reiki helps patients heal faster with less pain, reduces stress and improves mental attitude, improves appetite, and reduces the negative side effects of chemotherapy, radiation and other medical procedures.
